Matthew Saunders is a Northeast Ohio composer, conductor, and trombonist. He is Professor of Music and music and theater department chair at Lakeland Community College. His compositions have been heard around the country. He currently serves as secretary of the Composers Guild.
This work is the first of a number of compositions created this year in a partnership between the Friends of the McGaffin Carillon and the Cleveland Composers Guild. Members of the Guild are experimenting with writing for the carillon, many for the first time. The Cleveland Composers Guild receives support from and thanks the Bascom Little Fund, the Cleveland Foundation, Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, the Ohio Arts Council, and private donors.

The carillon can be heard from the grounds around the tower including the Case Western Reserve Campus behind the tower away from the Euclid Avenue traffic noise. Concerts are rain or shine and your car is also a place to hear the concert. Horn honking is an accepted form of applause at the end of the program.
